Hampshire Individual Chess Championship 1990 - Hampshire Chess History

The 1990 Hampshire Individual Championship was held at Basingstoke Chess club over the weekends of 17-18 and 24-25 November. Two games were played each Saturday and Sunday, and Iain Stenhouse ran the competition. It was good to see the Championship was a non smoking one, as this was certainly not the case for many tournaments

Parsons, for leading our team to such outstanding success last season and to those whø supported him by achieving such good results. Southern County Champions, Southern County South.Champions, Montague-Jones winners together with the 50 Boards Amboyna Shield. Surely a record by modern Chess. standards. It was sad to lose to Lancashire in the. B.C.F. Quarter-Finals, the second time that County has beaten us in this event. It is also sad to find Bramtoco, Southampton, closing down - always strong county supporters.
