The Hessisches Landesmuseum #Kassel (GER) owns a couple of #chess sets from the legacy of the landgraves of Hessen-Kassel. The one shown here is made in silver by Nikolaus Ostertag around 1700. Pieces symbolize Romans vs. Africans. The death certificate of chess master Hugo Fähndrich who died of arteriosclerosis on July 2nd, 1930 at 8 p.m. in the Lainz nursing home in Vienna (the date of death on Wikipedia is wrong). Fähndrich was one of Schlechter's seconds during his 1910 match against Lasker. #Chess
