The Hessisches Landesmuseum #Kassel (GER) owns a couple of #chess sets from the legacy of the landgraves of Hessen-Kassel. The one shown here is made in silver by Nikolaus Ostertag around 1700. Pieces symbolize Romans vs. Africans. Back in 2019 I counted 7 sets in the permanent #exhibition – and according to Antonius van der Linde there are more in the #museum stockrooms. 📷 my own.
